ROBERT PACZKOWSKI

COUNSELLING IN Polesworth, Tamworth & online

About me

Hello,

I’m Robert, a qualified person-centred counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I adhere fully to their ethical framework and engage in regular clinical supervision to ensure the safety and effectiveness of my practice. I undertake ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) and hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

My background spans a variety of counselling settings within charitable organisations, including Coventry & Warwickshire Mind, Bernardos in Solihull & Coventry, as well as Coventry & Warwickshire Children’s Rights Service, supporting individuals affected by a range of addictions. Over the past few years, I have been working as a counsellor with One Recovery (now Humankind) in Tamworth and the Polish Consulate in London. I contributed to a therapeutic support project for Polish individuals living in the UK, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

I believe we are all human beings of equal value. We all deserve somebody who will hear us, accept us without judgement and understand what that means at our deepest level. Counselling is often the most effective way for you to solve problems or issues and find a way to improve your quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need therapy?

Only you can know if you need therapy, but it won’t work unless you want it. Sometimes those close to us might suggest that we consider it.  Many clients view therapy as an investment in their future. Counselling enables you to feel properly listened to and understood, which can be transformative.

How many sessions do I need?

Every person is unique with different needs. I tailor my therapy specifically to the individual, and we regularly review your progress. We can continue with therapy sessions until you eventually get to a point where you feel you no longer need help; it is your decision.

What areas do you help people with?

Abuse, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cultural challenges, Depression, Gender & sexuality issues, LGBTQ + Immigration, Identity struggles, Obsessions, Relationships, Self-esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Substance dependency, Trauma, Work-related issues.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, your sessions are confidential. Please note, however, that under certain circumstances I have ethical and statutory obligations to protect the safety of children, others and yourself. In rare cases, this might mean sharing information with other health professionals.

What happens during our therapy sessions?

Every client’s journey through therapy is unique, especially with relationship-based approaches such as person-centred therapy. Over time, we will develop a strong and trusting connection, which will allow you to become ever more confident in your capacity to make sense of your difficulties and decide the best way forward.  Change can happen very rapidly; it depends on the individual.

Is online therapy right for me?

Online counselling sessions are a highly effective and convenient way of undergoing therapy if life is too busy or difficult to meet in person at my private practice therapy room. Make sure your privacy is protected and that you will not be disturbed. Find a quiet space you can relax in and check that there is a fast internet connection.  I use the secure platform Zoom, and you are sent a link prior to each session to access the virtual therapy room.
